Liquidation Bankruptcy: A Fresh Start

A divorce, lost job, or medical problem are just some of the life events that can send your finances into free-fall. Bad credit, high interest rates, and mounting credit card debt can make you feel like you’ll never get all your bills paid no matter how hard you work.

For many people, the answer is filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

At the law office of Ralph A. Kerns, we don’t judge you. We don’t care how you got into your financial predicament. We are here to help you get out of it. We’ve been helping individuals straighten out their financial lives for more than 25 years. We’d like to help you, too.

Please contact us today for information on whether you can file Chapter 7 under the new bankruptcy law. As a service to our clients, we provide the credit counseling classes required for bankruptcy filing right at our office.

The advantage of filing Chapter 7 is that it completely eliminates – or discharges – your debt and gives you a fresh start. The trade off is that you may have to sell—or liquidate -- some of your assets, such as a car or real estate holdings, to partially pay back your creditors.

Not everyone can file for Chapter 7. People who have filed bankruptcies within the past six to eight years and those who could possibly repay their debt by filing Chapter 13 bankruptcy are not eligible.
